Aloe Vera Gel & Coconut Oil: Instant Relief for Burns This Diwali
As Diwali festivities illuminate the skies with fireworks and diyas, the risk of skin burns increases. To address these concerns, NGO Create Stories hosted a webinar featuring beauty expert Seema Soni, who shared essential tips for preventing burns and caring for skin during the celebrations.
Soni emphasized the importance of rinsing the affected area with cold water if a burn occurs. This immediate action helps alleviate pain and reduces irritation. Following this, she recommended applying aloe vera gel—or a mixture of aloe vera with camphor—as it provides cooling relief and accelerates healing. Aloe vera’s natural properties are well-known for soothing pain and promoting skin health.
Additionally, common kitchen staples like coconut oil and flaxseed oil were highlighted for their effectiveness in burn treatment. These oils can be applied directly to the burn or mixed with camphor for enhanced cooling effects, aiding in faster recovery.
The webinar also covered care for eyes and hair during firework displays. Soni advised that if sparks or dust enter the eyes, rinsing them with cold water is crucial, followed by using eye drops for relief. In cases of severe discomfort, consulting a doctor is essential. For hair that may catch fire, trimming damaged strands and applying a deep conditioning mask can help restore health.
Soni urged everyone to exercise caution during Diwali celebrations, especially when handling firecrackers. By following these expert recommendations, everyone can celebrate safely and enjoy the festivities with peace of mind.
5 tips for Diwali burns
• Rinse burns immediately with cold water to alleviate pain and reduce irritation before applying aloe vera gel or a mixture of aloe vera and camphor for relief.
• Use coconut oil or flaxseed oil on burns, either directly or mixed with camphor, to promote faster healing.
• For eye safety, rinse with cold water if sparks or dust enter the eyes, and follow up with eye drops; consult a doctor if discomfort persists.
• Trim damaged hair promptly if it catches fire and apply a deep conditioning mask to restore health.
• Exercise caution when handling firecrackers during Diwali and combine home remedies with professional medical advice for serious injuries.
