Mimicking human brain, students on-board, CBSE gives a push, teachers’ learning AI!

Rewiring our brains into simple, non-judgmental thinking, akin to transforming colors into binary systems, is the latest challenge for CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) educators. While learning Artificial Intelligence (AI) sounds exciting to students, the required in-depth knowledge and application of math, statistics, and computing pose challenges for the education system. Since launching AI as an elective course in 2023, the board has been working to foster a positive mindset and encourage adoption of this skill among educators. With hopes of having students enroll for AI in the class 10 board examination, the board is shifting to national training programs with online flexibility. As we celebrate World AI Week from October 7 to October 14, CBSE is planning free online workshops from October 14 to October 16, discussing the challenges, progress, and possibilities of AI as an educational elective. School principals see a bright future for students, but major transformations in the schooling system are necessary.
Suman Kochhar, Secretary, Indore Sahodaya Complex of CBSE Schools
"Teachers are learning. Computer teachers are primarily engaged in AI training. Many students have begun taking AI examinations, demonstrating their growing interest and the importance of integrating AI into the curriculum. To support this momentum, CBSE is planning a conference for AI educators in Indore to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among teachers. We aim to ensure proper learning and training."
UK Jha, CBSE Coordinator
"CBSE understands the importance of strong leadership in AI education. To support this, it is organizing orientation programs for principals. These programs will equip school leaders with the tools and insights needed to promote AI initiatives in their schools, ensuring that both teachers and students receive the training required to succeed in an AI-driven world. Overall, these efforts represent a holistic approach to integrating AI into education, preparing the next generation for success in a technology-focused future."
Suresh Rajput, Robotics and AI Trainer
"Being an AI trainer for class 9 and 10 students comes with challenges, but many teachers are rising to meet them. They need to explain complex AI concepts like machine learning and data analysis in an understandable way. Creating engaging materials that simplify these topics requires skill. Teachers also face varying student skill levels, so they must be patient and adaptable. Despite these challenges, many educators are incorporating hands-on projects and real-world applications into their lessons, making AI relevant and exciting for students. By fostering curiosity, they inspire the next generation to explore artificial intelligence."
Lakshya K, Class 10 Student
"As a class 10 student, I find AI absolutely amusing! It’s fascinating to see how machines can learn and make decisions like humans. I love the idea of teaching a computer to recognize my favorite animals in photos or even play games with me. Learning about algorithms and AI systems opens up a world of possibilities. The projects we do, like creating chatbots or experimenting with simple machine learning models, make the concepts feel real and exciting. I never thought technology could be so fun, and I can’t wait to see how AI will change our lives in the future!"
AI is about making decisions… try it yourself!
The basis of decision making depends upon the availability of information and how we experience and understand it.
Scenario 1
You are locked inside a room with 3 doors to move out of the locked room and you need to find a safe door to get your way out. Behind the 1st door is a lake with a deadly shark. The 2nd door has a mad psychopath ready to kill with a weapon and the third one has a lion that has not eaten since the last 2 months.
Which door would you choose? and Why?Answer
The answer is gate number 3. The reason being that since the lion has not eaten for 2 months, he wouldn't have survived till now and would already be dead . This makes going out from gate 3 the correct option.
