The New Year is just around the corner, and what better way to welcome 2025 than with a fun, creative weekend challenge before the big day? Whether you’re looking to make something tasty, create a keepsake, or add a bit of flair to your celebration, these cool activities are the perfect way to spend the weekend. From delicious snacks to quirky DIY crafts, we've got something for everyone!

New Year’s Eve has been celebrated for thousands of years, with the earliest known festivities dating back to ancient Mesopotamia! People have different traditions around the world—some throw massive parties, others spend the night with family, and in places like Japan, people ring in the new year with 108 bells! But no matter where you are, the main idea is always the same: a fresh start, a new year, and a time to celebrate!
So, why not kick off your New Year celebrations early by trying out some of these awesome activities this weekend? Check out our fun ideas below, and let’s make this year’s countdown unforgettable!

Paneer - Veggie Snuggles
Ingredients:
• 200g paneer, cubed or grated
• 1/2 cup mixed veggies (carrots, bell peppers, peas, cabbage)
• 1 tbsp oil
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
• 1/2 tsp garam masala
• 1/2 tsp cumin powder
• 1/4 tsp red chili powder
• 1 tbsp cornstarch
• 8-10 spring roll wrappers
• Salt, pepper, and oil (for brushing)
Instructions:
Prepare Filling: Heat oil in a pan, sauté ginger-garlic paste, then add veggies and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add paneer, soy sauce, spices, and cook for 2 minutes. Let it cool, then mix in cornstarch.
Assemble Spring Rolls: Place filling on a spring roll wrapper, fold and roll tightly. Seal edges with water.
Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place spring rolls on a parchment-lined tray, brush with oil, and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown.
Serve: Serve with dipping sauces like sweet chili or soy sauce.

DIY New Year's Party Poppers
Supplies:
• Tissue paper (10-12 inches wide)
• Toilet paper rolls (about 4 inches long)
• Washi tape or string/ribbon
• Candy, confetti, printed messages, jokes, or trinkets (for filling)
Instructions:
Prepare the Tissue Paper: Cut or measure the tissue paper to be about 10-12 inches wide. Lay the toilet paper roll at one end of the tissue paper.
Roll it Up: Begin rolling the toilet paper roll in the tissue paper, wrapping it tightly.
Twist One End: Gather and twist one end of the tissue paper around the roll. Secure it tightly with washi tape or a piece of string/ribbon.
Fill the Popper: Fill the open end of the roll with treats like small candies, confetti, printed messages, jokes, or trinkets.
Seal the Other End: Twist and secure the second end with washi tape or string to close the popper.
How to Pop: When it's time to celebrate, grab both ends of the popper and pull them apart quickly. The treats and confetti will fly out, adding some festive fun!

Time Capsule Challenge
What You Need:
• Paper & pens (for writing predictions)
• A box or container (for the time capsule)
• Decorative items (stickers, markers, tape)
• Sealing materials (tape, wax seal, or string)
How to Do It:
Set Up the Capsule: Gather a box, jar, or any container that can be sealed. It can be a simple shoebox or a decorative tin.
Write Predictions & Quirky Facts: Each teen writes down their predictions for the coming year (e.g., “I think the next big dance trend will be…”) and includes a few quirky facts (e.g., “My favorite food this year is…” or “I’ll learn how to…”). You can also include small mementos—photos, ticket stubs, or fun facts about the current year.
Seal the Time Capsule: Place all the written notes, mementos, and quirky facts inside the container. Seal it up with tape, wax, or a ribbon to keep it closed. Add a label with the date for when it will be opened (e.g., “Open on December 31st, 2024”).
Store it Somewhere Safe: Put the time capsule somewhere everyone will remember (like a shelf, closet, or safe spot). You could even bury it (if you’re up for it!) for a more dramatic reveal.
Revisit Next Year: At the end of the year (or the beginning of the next), gather everyone together to open the time capsule and see which predictions came true and which ones were hilariously off the mark!
