22 vultures spotted in Indore forest circle in the vulture survey 2025. Forest Department of Madhya Pradesh completed the vulture census in the Indore range, revealing the presence of 22 vultures across four key areas. Conducted in collaboration with local NGOs, the survey aimed to track the decline of vulture populations and develop strategies for their conservation. The survey also highlighted key nesting sites for vultures, signaling hope for their revival in the region.

Additionally, the survey found three vulture nesting sites in the region:Mhow: 1 nesting site

The Vulture Population Crisis:
Vultures, which were once common in the region, have seen a sharp decline due to factors such as habitat destruction and poisoning, particularly from ingesting carcasses of animals treated with toxic substances. This survey, part of ongoing conservation efforts, helps gather crucial data to develop targeted interventions to protect these vital scavengers.

The census was carried out across 25 different locations in the Indore forest division, with over 30 forest workers participating in the survey. The majority of vultures were found in Indore (11) and Manpur (5), suggesting that these areas may have better conditions for vulture habitation compared to others.
