3-Day Colourful Pravesh Utsav: Starting the academic year on colourful note
The three-day Pravesh Utsav (Admission Festival) was inaugurated on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at all the government schools including major celebrations at two prominent government schools in Indore—CM Rise Ahilya Ashram School No. 1 and Chandravati Kanya Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya No. 1. The event, in line with directives from the Directorate of Public Instruction, Bhopal, marked the beginning of the new academic session and was designed to celebrate the start of a new educational journey for the students.
CM Rise Ahilya Ashram School No. 1 stood as the central venue for the festivities. The school premises were carefully decorated, setting a vibrant atmosphere for the event. Students, parents, and teachers participated in a collective oath-signing ceremony at the main entrance, pledging to abide by the rules and values of the institution. The attendees then proceeded to the temple of Maa Ahilya Bai, located within the school grounds, where they danced to the rhythmic beats of drums in a celebratory procession. After offering prayers to Maa Ahilya, the students were welcomed with roli, rice, and flower petals—a traditional gesture of blessing.
The event commenced with worship of Maa Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, in a prayer ceremony at the Ahilya Mandap of the school.
The school’s music group presented a moving rendition of the Saraswati Vandana, energising the entire gathering.
In his address, Principal Ramesh Kumar Sen provided an overview of the school's achievements over the past academic year. He highlighted the completion of the new building, which would increase student numbers to approximately 3,000. He assured the gathering that despite this growth, the school would maintain its commitment to high educational standards, aiming for academic excellence while expanding in both size and scope.
Vice-principal Vipin Kumar Jain also spoke, underscoring the school’s dedication to nurturing academic and co-curricular success through its exceptional teaching staff. He praised the efforts of the faculty in guiding students to reach new heights of achievement.
The chief guest ward No. 57 councillor Suresh Takalkar, congratulated the school community on its success and recognised the contributions of certain teachers, who were presented with awards for their outstanding work.
As Rajnish Shrotriya, a teacher at CM Rise Ahilya Ashram School No. 1, remarked: “This event signifies our dedication to the growth of every student, both academically and personally. We are optimistic about the new academic session and the opportunities it brings for all our students to excel.”
Distribution of Textbooks and Cultural Activities
As part of the festival, students were provided with free sets of textbooks under the government's educational schemes. The event also featured various cultural performances, including song and bhajan renditions by students, which added to the celebratory atmosphere. The entire school community was also able to watch the live telecast of the Pravesh Utsav event from Bhopal, where the Chief Minister launched the state-wide celebration.
Additionally, a special mid-day meal was served to students of both primary and secondary classes, ensuring they were well-nourished for the day. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rajesh Shrivastav.
Focus on Enrolment and Inclusive Education
The academic year for all government schools in Indore officially commenced on 1 April 2025, in accordance with the state government’s schedule. The first day of school involved special entrance ceremonies across all government schools to warmly welcome students. In line with directives from Collector Ashish Singh, efforts were made to achieve 100% enrolment by 25 March. This included the promotion of students from class 1 to class 7 and from class 8 to class 11, as well as a door-to-door campaign to identify and re-enrol school dropouts.
The timely distribution of textbooks was prioritised; ensuring students had all necessary resources for their studies from the start of the academic year. Senior students were also tasked with greeting their juniors, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and support. A special meal was served to students as part of the celebrations, contributing to the overall positive environment of the day.
