This Maritime Day, dive into a series of exciting activities to explore the wonders of the sea! Start with a Maritime Anchor Wall Hanging, an easy craft that brings the spirit of the ocean to your space. Simply cut and decorate an anchor, then hang it up as a reminder of the strength of the sea.
Next, try making Veggie Fish Tacos, a healthy and tasty twist on traditional fish tacos. Packed with fresh veggies like zucchini and bell peppers, it's a great way to celebrate the flavors of the sea.
For some fun and energy, play Ship, Shore, or Sailor with friends! This game will have you moving, jumping, and acting like sailors as you follow commands like "Ship" and "Sailor."
Lastly, challenge your vocabulary with the Maritime Adventure Poem, where you’ll fill in the blanks with maritime words to complete the story.
Maritime Day celebrates the importance of the sea in connecting cultures and transporting goods. Enjoy these activities and learn more about the fascinating world of the ocean!

Anchor wall hanging
Materials Needed:
• Cardboard or thick paper (old box or scrap paper works well)
• Scissors
• Markers or colored pens (blue, white, navy, or any color you prefer)
• Jute twine or string (for hanging)
• Glue (white glue or a hot glue gun)
• Hole punch (optional for threading the string)
• Decorative items (optional: glitter, stickers, or small beads)
Instructions
1. Draw and cut out an anchor shape on cardboard or thick paper.
2. Decorate the anchor with markers, paint, or stickers.
3. Cut a piece of jute twine or string (6–8 inches).
4. Glue or punch a hole at the top of the anchor and attach the twine for hanging.
5. Let the glue dry for 10-15 minutes.
6. Hang the anchor on a wall, door, or bulletin board.
Veggie Fish Tacos
A vegetarian twist on traditional fish tacos, made with spiced veggies.
Ingredients:
• Small corn tortillas
• Zucchini and bell peppers, diced
• Onion, sliced
• Olive oil
• Lime juice
• Avocado slices
• Fresh cilantro
• Sour cream (optional)
• Salsa (optional)
Instructions:
1. Sauté the zucchini, bell peppers, and onion in olive oil until softened and slightly charred.
2. Warm the corn tortillas and fill with the sautéed veggies.
3. Add avocado slices, a squeeze of lime juice, and top with cilantro.
4. Optionally, serve with sour cream and salsa for added flavor.
Ship, Shore, or Sailor
How to Play:
• One person (the "Captain") gives commands, such as "Ship," "Shore," or "Sailor."
o Ship: Run to the far side of the room.
o Shore: Stand still.
o Sailor: Perform a silly sailor activity like pretending to steer a ship or walk the plank.
• If the Captain calls out a command without saying "Simon says," anyone who moves or does the action is out.
• The last player standing wins!
