SGSITS conducts PELS Awareness Campaign & Plantation Drive
The IEEE Student Branch and IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) Chapter of Shri G. S. Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS), Indore, organized the “PELS Awareness Campaign and Plantation Drive” on campus as part of the global PELS Day celebration on Friday.
The Department of Electrical Engineering hosted the event, which focused on increasing awareness about power electronics, sustainability, environmental responsibility, and social engagement among students and faculty.
Sandeep Narulkar, acting director of SGSITS, addressed the gathering and urged participation in the plantation drive. He stated, “Plantation is not just a means of environmental conservation, but a moral responsibility to provide a clean, safe, and green future for the generations to come.”
Shailendra Kumar Sharma, professor and branch counselor of IEEE-SGSITS, underlined the initiative’s relevance to the institute’s educational and social mission. He said, “This initiative not only fosters awareness about energy efficiency, green technologies, and research but also reflects the social commitment of global organizations like IEEE PELS.”
The event included a session by Harshit Choubey, chair of the IEEE Student Branch Chapter at SGSITS, on the theme “What is IEEE and the Benefits of IEEE Membership.” He noted, “IEEE membership offers numerous advantages including staying technically current, access to career resources, professional networking, continuing education, and opportunities to engage in humanitarian programs.”
