Indore Schools Set the Pace as MP Board Rolls Out Second-Attempt Exam System

Schools in Indore have taken the lead in implementing the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education’s (MPBSE) revised exam system, which introduces twice-a-year board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 from the academic session 2025–26.
The system allows students to reappear in the same academic year to improve scores or clear failed subjects, replacing the older supplementary format. Education officials and school leaders in Indore say the change is already making a visible impact on academic planning and student confidence.
Early Compliance and Local Preparedness
By the end of July, a majority of Indore’s MP Board-affiliated schools had completed over 90% of online application submissions for the main board exam cycle. Schools have been holding orientation sessions for parents and students, while administrative teams ensure correct form entries to avoid rejections.
“This year, students are calmer and more prepared,” said MP private school association patron Gopal Soni, “The second attempt option removes the ‘one-shot pressure’ students often face. We've seen better engagement in classrooms as a result.”

Exam Centre Readiness by August 20
MPBSE has confirmed that physical verification of exam centres—including those in Indore—will be completed by 20 August 2025. The final list of centres will be published soon after. Officials are reviewing infrastructure, student capacity, and security protocols to ensure smooth operations during both the main and second exam phases.
June–July Second Attempt Shows Strong Turnout
The first Second Attempt Examination was held statewide from 17 June to 5 July 2025. In Indore, more than 15,000 students appeared, either to improve their earlier scores or reattempt failed subjects.
Feedback from local teachers indicates that the new model boosted morale among marginal scorers. “Students who barely missed the pass mark now feel they have a second chance without losing a year,” said a Aarti Sharma, social science teacher at a private school in South Tukoganj.
Pass Rates and Toppers from Indore
MPBSE’s 2025 board results showed a pass rate of 76.22% for Class 10 and 74.48% for Class 12. Indore schools reported improved performances compared to 2024, with several institutions noting a 10–15% rise in overall success rates.
The 2025 High School Examination results for Indore District show a strong overall performance, with a pass rate of 77.83%. Girls significantly outperformed boys, with an impressive pass percentage of 81.87%, compared to 73.85% for boys.
This gender gap was particularly pronounced in the OBC (83.68%) and General categories (86.15%), where girls achieved the highest results.
Among the toppers were Kavya Agrawal (Class 10, 498/500) and Yash Thakur (Class 12 Science stream, 492/500), both from Indore-based schools.
Advisory and Required Documentation
Students are required to submit their APAAR ID, Samagra ID, and, if applicable, migration and transfer certificates. School administrators have been asked to double-check entries and retain digital records of applications and payment receipts.
