SGSITS engineering team GS Racers secures the validation presentation award at E-BAJA SAE India 2025 while the institute launches a new EV simulation program

Engineering students drive away with top presentation honours

PITHAMPUR

GS Racers, the student engineering team from Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, secured first prize in the validation presentation category at E-BAJA SAE India 2025.

The national competition, held at NATRAX, requires teams to design, manufacture, and test electric off-road vehicles. Participants undergo evaluation regarding engineering design, safety compliance, performance, cost, and innovation. After clearing technical inspections and brake tests on the first attempt, the team completed suspension, traction, and maneuverability trials. Despite a disruption during the endurance race, the group maintained its position in the competition.

Organisers confirmed that the validation presentation award was granted based on the team’s engineering calculations, testing data, design verification, and simulation results.

The team operated under the guidance of Girish Thakar, Sachin Balsara, Shailendra Sharma, and Harshit Choubey. Leadership was provided by captain Piyush Kushwah and vice-captain Shivansh Markam. The group has a long history in the circuit, having participated in M-BAJA since 2007 and electric categories for three years.

SGSITS plugs into future with new simulation circuit

The institute has officially launched a flyer for its upcoming electric vehicle system simulation program. Director Nitesh Purohit inaugurated the event alongside program patron G. D. Thakar and faculty members Shailendra Kumar Sharma and Harshit Choubey. Coordination for the launch was managed by Hansraj Gupta and a supporting team.

Organised by SAE India, the curriculum focuses on plug-in hybrid electric two-wheeler moped design. The initiative allows students to model battery systems, motors, power electronics, and energy management to determine vehicle efficiency and range.

Faculty members noted that the program represents the ongoing engagement of the institute with applied electric vehicle and hybrid systems education. The competitive portion of the simulation is scheduled to take place online during the final weeks of February.
