A celebration of World Heritage Day on April 18.

April travels like a storyteller—will you walk beside it? It arrives at your doorstep on the 18th, palms warm with sunlight, asking you not just to listen, but to take part. It doesn’t point to monuments in the distance; it places stories in your hands—ripe tomatoes, a blank dial, a handful of peanuts—and waits to see what you will do with them.
Will you slice time into thin, sunlit pieces and let it dry into memory? Will you trace the movement of shadows and learn how the day breathes? Will you trap sunlight itself and taste what patience feels like?
I. Preserving the Sun
Sun-dried Tomato Pesto
The Ingredients: 8 ripe tomatoes, ½ cup walnuts, 3 garlic cloves, ½ cup olive oil, and fresh basil.
- Slice: Cut tomatoes 5mm thick and salt heavily.
- Protect: Cover with a breathable muslin cloth to block dust.
- Dry: Leave on the balcony for 48 hours until leathery.
- Assemble: Finely chop dried tomatoes with nuts and garlic; stir in olive oil.
A Taste of Patience
II. Ancient Science
Warli Solar Dial
Ancient science meets tribal art.
The Build: Paint a 10-inch cardboard circle terracotta brown. Use white rice paste to draw Warli figures around the border. Poke a 6-inch twig through the center vertically. Align with True North using a compass. At 12:00 pm, mark the shadow's tip. Repeat every hour to create your "time-map."
III. Zero-Fuel Greenhouse
Solar-Roasted Peanuts
Soak raw peanuts in salt water for 15 minutes. Drain and spread on a black metal tray. Cover with a clear glass lid to create a natural Greenhouse Effect. Leave in the direct Indore sun (11 am – 4 pm). Let cool completely for maximum crispness.
